Cristian Lolea has made arrangements for large orchestra and smaller acoustic ensembles for important names in Romanian show business, such as Phoenix, Berti Barbera, Ştefan Banică and Smiley.
An important and audacious approach was the Symphony Da Rock Project, in 2005; a series of rock-symphonic shows – rock hits arranged and orchestrated for symphonic orchestra and rock band and also for acoustic ensemble (seven players) and rock band.
Cristian Lolea has worked with and been commissioned by important musicians. For Irina Mureşanu and the New England String Ensemble Cristian Lolea arranged George Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 for violin and string orchestra (2008). In 2012 he did a second version, this time for violin and orchestra.
In 2010, Cristian Lolea re-orchestrated Ciprian Porumbescu’s Balada for one of the most renowned Romanian violinists – Alexandru Tomescu.
He was commissioned to arrange and orchestrate the music of Zachary Carrettin and Ray Granlund for an IBM-sponsored event featuring the aerial dance company Project Bandaloop, in Sao Paulo, 2007.
In 2013, Angela Gheorghiu commissioned Cristian Lolea to arrange and orchestrate three romanian carols for soprano, choir and orchestra. The pieces are included on Angela Gheorghiu’s album entitled O, ce veste minunată! (Great tidings upon us).
